First Day: Your
tour departs from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, clearing Mexican customs
in Reynosa and head south through our neighboring state of Tamaulipas, crossing the Tropic of Cancer on the way. It's a delight to cross
the Sierra Madres mountain range on the way to San Luis Potosi where you'll spend your first night. The Hotel
Panorama is your
host this evening. There will be a welcome reception upon arrival complete
with a musical serenade or student minstrel program.
Second Day: After sightseeing in San
Luis sit back and enjoy the scenery. There will be rest stops and
picture taking. Early afternoon arrival in Angangueo, a town at the
foot of the mountains you' II be traveling through in the morning. Your
host hotel will be the Hotel Don Bruno. Dinner is included this
evening, as well as breakfast and lunch tomorrow.
Breakfast and Dinner Included.
Third Day: After
breakfast, you'll make the drive through beautiful mountain passes to the Butterfly
Reserve. At times you'll be at over 9,000 feet elevation. Here you'll
spend the remainder of the morning visiting with our beautiful winged
friends, a true feast of the eyes, as well as for all the senses as you
become subtly caught in the ..snowfall" of these lovely creatures,
fluttering in and about the tall trees. In the afternoon, you'll drive on
to one of the most picturesque towns in all of Mexico, Patzcuaro.
Beautiful buildings abound. Following check-in at the Posada don
Vasco, you'll have time to enjoy this quaint town. There is an
attractive restaurant in your hotel. You'll enjoy the gay dance of
the Viejitos,
the little old men, really young boys, disguised.
Breakfast, Lunch Included.
Fourth Day: You'll sightsee in this quaint town this morning including the Tarascan Museum, the downtown market, the Casa de Once Patios (11 patios) which features a dazzling array of regional crafts and nearby Santa Clara del Cobre, famous for copperware (you see them make it).
Breakfast Included.
Fifth Day: This morning you'll have a chance to see the little
town of Tzintzuntzan, famous for its archeological site and painted
pottery, also wood carvings and straw creations. Then on to Matehuala and Las Palmas Midway Inn for the night.
Breakfast Included.
Sixth Day: After
breakfast, you'll cross the Sierra
Madres once again, this time through Santa Rosa Canyon on the
return to Reynosa and Texas. Arrive in the Rio Grande Valley about 5:30
pm. Breakfast Included.
